I didn’t think I’d be here this week but David Goffin at odds-on appeals to me at Marrakech.
Goffin, who won this tournament in 2022, looks a class above Moreno De Alboran who took out a potent but potentially rusty Diaz Acosta in his round one contest.
The American was 2/1 to knock off the Argentine and after doing so in a deciding set, comes out here a little skinny against someone who plays well very well, here.
Goffin is an accomplished main draw player and against opposition of this level, tends to do quite well.
He made light work of the tricky Rinderknech last night and it’s safe to assume the veteran is extremely invested this week and would feel he’s a genuine chance to lift the trophy.
The American is very solid, and can present problems if Goffin isn’t fit, but assuming he is, he’s a class above.
I have him closer to 1.50
