Vinny’s Challenger Hamburg Preview – Ricardas Berankis vs Rudolf Molleker

Posted on

In a matchup between a declining player and one that finally starts living up to our expectations, I was surprised by the early line movement that pushed Rudolf Molleker all the way up from 1.56 (-179) to 1.78 (-128). For now, I am happy with that cause current odds represent value on the big-hitting German born in Ukraine. Yes, Ricardas Berankis has been winning some close matches recently, but Jebens, Celikbilek and Yevseyev can’t really be considered highlight wins. Molleker has beaten higher-ranked players in Shimabukuro, Choinski and Brouwer and did it all in straight sets. The 23-year-old could become an indoor beast with his big serve and forehand. Even his backhand is rock-solid now. I don’t think Berankis has that much in him anymore and I pretty much agreed with the opening line, which is why I’m putting a bigger stake on what I have as a >5% edge.
