Jake’s Rotterdam Preview: Raonic vs. De Jong

Posted on

Right, so I’m simply going to have to be against Milos Raonic, here.

I talk often about players’ prices being held up massively by reputation, and I think that’s what we’re dealing with here.

Don’t get me wrong, the Canadian looked potent when he took the opening set of Alex De Minaur at the Australian Open, but it’s so clear he’s out of sorts.

He’s won one match in six months, and has a combined hold-break clip of less than 100.

He will play at Rotterdam on a surface that ranks below average in terms of CPI.

He will play a hungry Dutchman who will have the support of the crowd, and who has generally been very active and has generated a lot of positive results.

The upside Raonic possesses is superior, but I’m betting on the time spent on court and overall consistency.

De Jong – while spending most of his time at the Challenger level – has won more matches in 12 months than Raonic has won since the start of 2021.
