35-year-old Facundo Bagnis will look to claim an opening-round win in Uruguay after rallying to win a Challenger title in his home country last week, something that’s always difficult to do.
Once a staple of the main draw, Bagnis can clearly produce high level play on the Challenger tour, but the jury’s out on whether he can sustain that standard over a longer period of time.
That theory will be put to the test when the talented Lukas Neumayer visits Uruguay as the 21-year-old looks to produce his second win over Bagnis in just six months.
The pair met at Salzburg last season and after being dealt a $2.88 SP, the youngster emerged in straight sets.
While Neumayer won’t have the advantage of playing on European clay courts, it’s quite probable he’ll have an extra level of endurance given the factors I’ve just mentioned.
Due to my lack of overall data betting into Challenger clay matches, this bet, like the last one, will be smaller.
