British superstar Jack Draper will make his 2024 season debut on Monday afternoon in a first-round Adelaide Open contest against Argentina’s Sebastian Baez.
Draper, who produced a nine-match winning streak throughout October and November last season, was agonisingly close to his maiden tour-level title as he loses in three sets to France’s Adrian Mannarino in the Sofia final.
Despite the loss, Draper was able to display the huge potential he has as injury has been the major setback thus far.
The 22-year-old looks to be a future top 10 player if he is able to move past the aforementioned physical issues.
While his hard court potential and data is much better than his opponent’s, I am willing to make a play against Draper on the assumption he could be a little out of sorts in his first match.
Baez is no world beater in these conditions, but was able to claim a hard court trophy at Winston Salem last season and should be able to provide the resistance required to strain Draper’s body at this stage in the season.
It’s not as warm in Adelaide as I’d hoped, but based on the factors I’ve mentioned, this price is a little silly.
