I happily took Samsonova at the game handicap in round 1, and again she looks to have a relatively favourable match-up here against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
I will keep this short as I don’t want to re-hash my thoughts on Samsonova again. Pavlyuchenkova is relatively early in her return to the tour, and hasn’t quite hit her stride just yet. The fade-out against Davis last week was a little concerning, and I fear her need to defend consistently here against a player as powerful as Samsonova, in the form she is in, may be a touch difficult here.
There are a couple of potential ways to play this, but I’ll settle for the game handicap.
