As impressive as the tournament result was last week for Jarry, I do feel he is a little short here against Hugo Dellien.
I have been quite steadfast in the belief that I don’t hold the highest opinion of the form of players in the week before a grand slam tournament. Not only are the tournaments a little weaker with many top players focusing on the fortnight ahead, but fatigue can then play a roll when backing up for the first round of the grand slam.
Although Geneva is only at a couple of hundred metres of altitude, it all helps for a player such as Jarry. We drop back to just above sea level in Paris, and coming up against a genuine clay court grinder in Hugo Dellien, this looks to be a genuine test for Jarry.
Dellien is not at his best on the European clay, however his grinding and counterpunching is worth a small play here.
