Just a quick preview as I am short on time. This won’t be a massive play, however I do feel there is a touch over value on Karen Khachanov here coming off his first round great escape against Lestienne. To Lestienne’s credit, the variety in his game nearly got him over the line against Khachanov, however the Russian was the better player late, and came from 2 sets to 0 down to progress.
I have some concerns regarding what Albot can do to trouble Khachanov. He doesn’t have the variety of Lestienne, and in my opinion he may play KK into some genuine rhythm with his game. Albot has had a charmed run through qualifying and round 1 in terms of opposition strength, however this is a major step up today. Khachanov is likely to pressure the Albot serve consistently on recent form, and I am happy to side with the -7 games for a play here.
