1 unit Anisimova -3 games vs AVU at $2.08 at Topsport
Preview: After seeing some strong glimpses in terms of her potential level in the back end of 2021, I think the outdoor conditions in Melbourne will be far more suited to Amanda Anisimova than Alison Van Uytvanck this afternoon.
The indoor form in the latter part of 2021, when a lot of the bigger names weren’t in action, has skewed the odds here a touch, as has the win/loss record for Anisimova late in the year. When you look at the tennis from the US Open onwards for Anisimova, it is a significant step in the right direction. Her losses came to Krejcikova, Svitolina and Pliskova (in a third set tiebreak). She then went undefeated in World Team Tennis, going 7-0 across the exhibition. She gets to Australia now (unable to attend last year due to Covid positive just before charter flights), and will look to make great strides this month with no points to defend.
Van Uytvanck’s indoor run to end the year resulted in wins over players all with lesser ability than Anisimova for mine, lessening the appeal of the run of form for mine. My preference is also to take Anisimova in match-ups where there is a lot of pace coming from the other end of the court, which she will see today. I will take the -3 games at plus money for 1 unit.
