Whilst it can be easy to get caught up in the big prices for a number of Australian tennis players this time of year, there are two players in Traralgon tomorrow that I am happy to have a small staking on.
The first is Dane Sweeny to defeat Federico Ferreira Silva. I was expecting odds closer to $3 than the $4 we are currently seeing. Sweeney is slowly developing his frame to be able to match is a little more with the Challenger Tour, and this will be a great test against Silva. We last saw Ferreira Silva retiring with injury in November in Finland, and doesn’t have the style on hard or power to justify the short price here against Sweeny.
The other, albeit with a smaller stake, is Tristan Schoolkate to defeat Maxime Guinard. Schoolkate is of a better build than Sweeney to match it at the Challenger level, and his ability to serve and volley adds another string to his bow compared to most his age. Guinard is another who can deliver inconsistent results and hasn’t set the world on fire on outdoor hardcourt at Challenger level. Happy to place half a unit on the Aussie.
