Steve’s ATP Winston Salem Preview: Kwon vs Carreno Busta

Posted on

Pablo Carreno Busta looks a little short here in a week leading into the US Open, a fortnight where he has semi final points to defend.

Having cast an eye over the last couple of years of PCB playing in the week before a grand slam, outside of pre-Wimbledon this year, there hasn’t been a lot of major success for the Spaniard, with a number of losses as a short favourite. This looks to be a letdown spot for the Spaniard, coming off a poor result in Cincinnati and a first round bye, and although Kwon’s recent form has been below his best, he was able to deliver a strong round 1 result in defeating Radu Albot.

I think there are two ways to approach this match, by either taking Kwon to win the first set with PCB coming off the first round bye, however I think there is a touch more value in the full match moneyline, especially with a grand slam less than a week away.

Selection:

1 unit Kwon to defeat PCB at $4.30 at Topsport
