Steve’s WTA Tokyo Games Preview: Rybakina vs Vekic

Posted on

Aryna Sabalenka had her third lowest first serve percentage of the last 12 months, and still nearly snatched victory from Donna Vekic in round 2. Is Vekic back to her best, or was she the fortunate recipient of an ‘off’ performance from Sabalenka?

Whilst her form is improving, I don’t think Vekic is quite back to her best, and may be found out in the conditions by Elena Rybakina. To be able to challenger Rybakina in these conditions you need to have a mix of movement and power to exploit Rybakina’s ability to change direction and cover the court well. After an average performance in round 1 against Stosur, Rybakina looked far more comfortable on court in round 2, defeating Peterson in straight sets.

If you can get the -3.5 games at a good price I would suggest taking that. I will be taking the 2-0 set betting for Rybakina for 1.5 units. The longer term form and the cooler conditions all favour Rybakina here in my opinion.

1.5 units Rybakina 2-0 set betting vs Vekic at $1.90 at Bet365
