Steve’s WTA French Open Qualifying Preview: Korpatsch vs Schmiedlova

Posted on

I nearly pulled the trigger on Korpatsch in the first round but was put off by the significant drift that occcured. I won’t be passing up the price on offer today.

First up on court in the potentially heavier conditions, I personally think there is value in the price of Korpatsch. Part of this is due to the lack of trust in the consistency in the game of Schmiedlova. I much prefer to get involved with AKS prices as a heavy underdog (see French Open 2020 vs Azarenka), however this looks to be too short against a capable claycourt player who is capable of playing with margin and proven to be able to overcome deficits in such matches. There is no doubt that AKS will go on a run at some point in this match, however in the cold, damp conditions on offer to kick off the day in Paris, I cannot have Korpatsch north of $4.

In fact, I have her closer to the $3 mark here. Value for a 1.5 unit selection on the money line, and 0.25 units on the 2-0 set betting.

Suggested Bet

1.5 units Korpatsch to defeat Schmiedlova at $4.33 at Bet365
0.25 units Korpatsch 2-0 set betting at Unibet (and William Hill, $7 Bet365)
