WTA Australian Open Preview: Hsieh vs Errani

Posted on

Throw the head to head out the window, with two of the three matches coming on clay and their first meeting coming when I was in high school.

A lot of changed since then.

I can understand the appeal of some taking Sara Errani in this spot, and over her last couple of rounds. She runs all day and keeps the ball in play, drawing errors out of opponents regularly. At this stage of their respective careers however, I just don’t see this being a friendly match-up for the Italian.

The problem? Hsieh is too smart to overhit. She is one of the most tactical players in the game, and still knows how to play with margin. She may be able to play with even more margin today against Errani, who won’t dazzle with a high winner count.

I was originally keen on Hsieh to win this match in straight sets, however with the game handicap at -2.5 games here, I will take that for a unit instead.

Suggested Bet

1 unit Hsieh -2.5 games vs Errani at $1.88 (-113) at Topsport
