ATP Roland Garros Preview: Garin vs Polmans

Garin vs Polmans (Approx 07:00pm AEST)

Whilst I am a massive fan of the Australian, this is going to be a bridge too far for Marc Polmans in my opinion.

Whilst I felt the form of Ugo Humbert had been severely overrated in the lead-up to Roland Garros, I cannot say the same about Cristian Garin. Outside of his Rome appearance against Borna Coric, where the Chilean looked to have some issues on his serve at times in key moments, Garin has looked very solid on the clay overall. His round 1 win over Philipp Kohlschreiber was solid, winning 6-4 4-6 6-1 6-4, and it could have been a little better were it not for some poor break point conversion.

Marc Polmans made the most of his lucky loser position, saving 10/11 break point chances earned by Humbert on his way to a 6-2 6-2 3-6 6-3 victory in just over three hours. He was able to put 72% of his first serves in play, his highest to date through his five matches in Paris.

Whilst Humbert was erratic for periods of the match against Polmans, I cannot see a way through Garin for Polmans. I fear this match could become one-sided, barring another exceptional serving performance from Polmans. For mine, the -8 game handicap is value for 1 unit.

Suggested Bet

1 unit Garin -8 games vs Polmans at $1.94 at Topsport
