WTA Roland Garros Qualifying Preview: Hogenkamp vs Sramkova

Hogenkamp vs Sramkova (Approx 06:00pm AEST)

Here are two players that, had you asked me a couple of years ago, I would have said both would have had even more success in their careers than we have seen in recent times.

Richel Hogenkamp made her way through to the second round of qualifying with arguably the performance of the first round, turning back the clock to defeat Kristina Kucova 6-3 6-1. It was reminiscent of her best form which saw her push into the Top 100 in 2017. Roland Garros has been a happy hunting ground for  Hogenkamp, having made her way through to the main draw via qualifying in 2017-18, equalling her best performance at a Grand Slam with a 2nd round appearance in 2017. Her schedule has been quite limited for the most part, however she does hold a 64-29 record on clay across all levels since the start of 2017, and is far and away her best surface. A strong performance in Round 1 will have done her confidence levels the world of good.

Rebecca Sramkova is yet to hit the heights she seemed destined to reach early in her career, however she was good enough to come from a set down to defeat Cristina Bucsa in the first round. It wasn’t a terribly convincing performance, in a string of fluctuating form. It is form that I cannot trust at near even odds, as on recent exposed form, and clear comfort in the conditions from round 1, the value here lies in Hogenkamp.

Happy to take Hogenkamp to win here for 2 units.

Suggested Bet

2 units Hogenkamp to defeat Sramkova at $1.89 at Topsport
