Kovinic vs Cabrera (Approx 02:30am AEST)
Personally I would have Lizette Cabrera as a slight favourite here, so a 2.5 game headstart looks incredibly generous in the circumstances.
I have been incredibly impressed with the 2020 performances from Cabrera to date. Her quarter final appearance, where she pushed a red-hot Elena Rybakina 7-6 6-7 5-7 was a highlight, and she was able to put together a very solid body of work during the My UTR Series. She was good in the tight moments, winning seven out of nine match tiebreaks she played, and looked to be covering the court incredibly well, a crucial component of her game. She loves to absorb pace and use it to her advantage, and she will certainly get the opportunity today against Danka Kovinic.
I just haven’t seen enough consistency in the game of Kovinic to have her as such a clear favourite in this match. She was absolutely found out in the conditions last week against Vera Zvonareva, and there isn’t a lot of recent hardcourt form that leads me to have her as a favourite in this one.
This is a great opportunity for the young Australian, and the +2.5 game handicap looks to be great value here, and I will play in for 1.5 units.
