Plays to just miss the cut

  • I looked long and hard at Safwat to cause an upset over Gilles Simon, as the Frenchman was poor in his outing last week against Korda. With little known about what Safwat has been up to recently, an with so many other options on the board, I made the decision to sit this one out.
  • Gauff -3.5 games was nearly a play as well, however I was hoping for a 2.5-3.0 handicap. Sevastova has been poor since her return, however will have fond memories of past performances at Flushing Meadows, and is capable of turning her form around quite quickly.
  • Danielle Collins to defeat Anett Kontaveit looks a huge price, however I am swayed away by the Collins injury concerns.
