Vinny’s Wimbledon Women’s Preview – Yulia Putintseva vs Katerina Siniakova

Posted on

Both Putintseva and Siniakova are playing some of the best tennis of their life right now. While Putintseva is still unbeaten this grass-court season, winning the title in Birmingham and only losing one set in six matches, Siniakova was facing some tougher opposition in Germany, beating players like Navarro, Zheng or Samsonova and only losing to Pegula in three sets.

Siniakova does have the bigger weapons, however, mentally, she sometimes checks out. Rollercoasters within her matches (or even sets) are no rarity and paired with the drama that Putintseva provides, this one should get interesting. I don’t see this match going straightforward for any of these two with a potential clash with Iga Swiatek being on the line as well. Neither of the two will give in and I have this matchup going to a third set at over 45% instead of the implied 42%.
