Katie Volynets should be far too strong and too consistent for Carle on the grass. On one hand, Volynets has looked exceptional through qualifying, where she only dropped set, and won 6-3 6-2 and 6-0 6-1 through the final two rounds. I certainly feel her game translates more naturally to the grass than Carle, who lost to Rakhimova in her only lead-up grass match. Carle is 3-3 in her career on grass, and although Volynets is only 11-12, it must be said that with the progression that Volynets has made in her overall game since the majority of her grass matches, and the form in which she displayed as qualifying progressed, the -4 games certainly appeals here.
