Back on deck after a busy week, but there are two underdogs that caught my eye today in Madrid.
The first is Luca Van Asche to defeat Seb Baez. The European clay form of Baez just doesn’t match up with his South American clay form, and I do feel as though the conditions in Madrid, including the altitude, bring LVA right into this matchup. I have him closer to $2.40, so not expected to win, however there is value in him at the current quote. He’ll need to be assertive, but LVA has all the tools to dictate regularly in this match-up.
The second is Shelby Rogers to defeat Marketa Vondrousova. The American is a big underdog, however Vondrousova’s form just doesn’t warrant being so short. Rogers was solid first up and will be aggressive in this matchup. Still early in her return to the tour, and there is still inconsistency in her game given it’s a powerful game, however she should be shorter than the $5.50 widely available.
