Not only is the Challenger in Sarasota played in exceptional conditions, most Mexican events are played at extreme altitude. In Cuernavaca (Morelos), we’re at over 1.500 meters (4.900 feet) altitude. That combined with a big server like Skander Mansouri and a far-from-consistent clay-courter in Facundo Mena is enough for me to take the over. I’m not moved by Mena’s straight-set qualifying wins over Kadhe and Romios since they cannot compare to Mansouri.
The tall Tunisian played a lot of close matches last week in Mexico City where he beat Chappell, Hernandez and Polmans in three before giving away a set-and-break lead in the quarterfinal against Tomic. Mansouri seems to be in good shape and back on his preferred hard court, I see him keeping things close again against Mena.
