ATP Indian Wells – Lehecka vs Sinner

Posted on

Short and sharp here as it is getting late in Australia. I cannot have Jiri Lehecka running around here against Jannik Sinner at odds longer than we saw from Ben Shelton when you consider the level of tennis both have been able to produce of late. Jiri Lehecka has been kind to me of late (including that win over Khachanov a couple of weeks ago), and I do feel he is largely flying under the radar for a player ranked 32 in the world. Lehecka comes in here on a 13-4 run since the start of ATP Adelaide. He has wins in straight sets in his last two matches against Tsitsipas and Rublev, as well as solid wins in 2024 over Khachanov, Korda and Draper amongst others. The slow IW conditions which allow the ball to sit up and be struck powerfully works in the Czech’s favour, and he has all the tools to be able to challenge the in-form player of the tour in Jannik Sinner.

Sinner’s exceptional break point save rate has continued at Indian Wells. However, he has now faced three opponent who aren’t the type of players to strike fear of any kind into Sinner in terms of the Italian’s serve being returned. I feel Lehecka has more strings to his bow than the other opposition of this week, and given the Czech’s form, he should be much shorter than the $6.50 on offer for him.

I cannot pass up the odds here. Does Sinner win? Most likely, but I cannot have him this short against Lehecka.

Suggested Bet:
