Jake’s Cordoba Quarters Preview

Posted on

Quarters form, one of my favourite things to do on the tour.

Bet365 offers these prices, and at times TAB or some Pinnacle/some similar skins.

Getting on special markets is an art, and it’s not something everyone has the patience to do, but if you can pull it off, you will be successful.

QUARTER ONE:

One of the more straight forward quarters to analyse as it’s headed by number one seed, Francisco Cerundolo. The Argentine hasn’t had the best results here, and I really don’t know what to make of his golden swing prospects.

He’s never won a main draw title on clay and always seems to use this time of the year to get into the swing of things before firing his best shots in Europe. At the price, I couldn’t be with him.

Outside the elder Cerundolo, there’s not a whole lot to speak of, as the remainder is evenly matched. Roberto Carballes Baena won Marrakesh last year, but I think I need to see him run around first.

The contest against Navone early on isn’t easy. Munar, Galan, Bagnis and Juan Manuel Cerundolo are all very evenly matched, and the market has it that way.

NO BETS

QUARTER TWO:

He’s the clear and obvious pick at the top of this section, but Tomas Martin Etcheverry is absolutely screaming at me at the $3.20 quota. He’s got to win two matches, and the implication is that he’ll be around $1.75 – $1.80 average in each match? Nonsense.

Zapata Miralles or Garin will be the first meeting, and if he can get past one those two, it’ll be Altmaier, Coria, Cachin or Ramos in the quarter final. If Etcheverry shows he’s in form by working past one of the first guys, the SP respect will be wound right in.

He made the quarter finals at Roland Garros, the final at Houston, and there’s no reason he won’t be right in the mix, here.

QUARTER THREE:

Not the most appealing section as a few question marks surrounding the main players. Sebastian Ofner has brilliant clay-court data at the challenger level, and that success should transfer to a 250 event.

Yannick Hanfmann was somewhat of a surprise packet last season, accruing some huge wins on the dirt, but the first-up factor is so big for me. New season, limited appearances… I’m just not sure.

There is one player I was happy to bet on at a price and that is Luciano Darderi. His recent data is superb, and he’s come through qualifying stages in devastating fashion. He gets a rusty Tomas Barrios Vera first-up, and could catch Ofner napping after that?

0.5 units Luciano Darderi to WIN quarter 3 @ $8 with Bet365

QUARTER FOUR:

I have an outright bet from this section, so I’ll save the spiel for the next post.
