It’s been a fun ride this year backing Emma Navarro multiple times for some nice success, but unfortunately I will be swapping allegiances today as she takes on Elise Mertens in the final.
For all the positive things I’ve had to say about Navarro, Mertens is clearly the second strongest player she has faced this year, behind Gauff. Mertens’ record in Hobart is elite for a WTA level tournament, and she did a fantastic job in steadying the ship late in her clash with the tricky Saville yesterday.
Burel, Frech, Tomova and Yuan is likely to be a run to the final of a WTA tournament that is a bit on the easier side compared to many this year. Happy to back Mertens here at the moneyline for a small play.
