Looking for Kostyuk to finish what Garcia started yesterday. Based on the MTO yesterday and her general movement for a large portion of the match, I am not sure that Ostapenko is at 100%.
Ostapenko has put in a pretty significant body of work across the fortnight leading into the Australian Open. She played until the quarter finals in the singles in Brisbane, and won the doubles title, and is still in both the singles and doubles in Adelaide (albeit with a second round walkover in the doubles). She looked below her best, yet Garcia was unable to take advantage late in the match.
Kostyuk had a very up and down 2023, but her talent is unquestioned. I do feel at this point in her career she is perhaps a little more comfortable playing with more pace from the other end, as some recent matches against more defensive players have led to Kostyuk producing a slew of unforced errors. At a solid underdog price, this looks a nice play on Kostyuk.
