This is my second and final preview from Auckland today, as the game handicap in this one is a game away from where my numbers have it.
Parry has had one of the more comfortable runs to the quarter final considering Tsurenko faded significantly in their second round match-up. 3 set wins over Bektas and Tsurenko have now boosted Parry’s hardcourt record in the last 12 months to 8 wins and 15 losses. Two of her three Top 100 wins in that stretch have come this week, however her overall body of work against the Top 150 in the last 12 months (3-13) leaves a lot to be desired.
She takes on Wang, who won and covered for me in round 1, and who won a tight contest against Wang. Her serve stats remain solid, and I and still confident in my thoughts that the conditions suit her here. If Wang continues to display the form of the last 6 months, she wins and covers in this one.
