Taking another warm favourite here in Canberra, as Harriet Dart takes on Nao Hibino.
Dart is a player who is on the cusp of the Top 100, but in my opinion has the level to be able to take that next step in 2024. Dart is 27 years of age and has been plagued with inconsistency at times, however the body of form she has put together at home at ITF level and then in Japan, followed by 3 set wins over Friedsam and Wang this week, is a step in the right direction. I fear that she can sometimes become undone by power hitters who take the match out of her hands, but that won’t be the case today against Hibino.
Hibino is solid, but a large chunk of her rankings come from a WTA title the week in Prague in what was a rain affected week before some bigger tournaments. I have Hibino longer in the moneyline odds, and am happy to side with Dart for a 1 unit selection.
