ATP Roland Garros Day 2 – Shapovalov vs Nakashima

Posted on

As painful as this is to write given the tennis he has displayed recently, I do feel as though Denis Shapovalov is a value price today in his match with Brandon Nakashima tonight.

For all the negatives with Shapovalov, it felt on the surface that he had take. A step in the right direction in his final set tiebreak loss to Zhang where he limited his double faults to 4, and won over 70% of points behind his first and second serves. He finds himself in another matchup that is likely to be relatively serve dominated, and with form lines I am happy to question. I’m not always sold of form the week before a Slam, which is where Nakashima’s best results of clay this year were generated.

I couldn’t bring myself to back Shapovalov for more than a small play, however I have the odds here closer to a coin flip here.
