Medvedev and Djokovic both remarked how brutal the conditions were yesterday, so I (subjectively based on my past experience watching) have made a list of players that I want to oppose today.
Bets are as follows:
0.25 units on Paolini to defeat Kvitova at $8.25 at Unibet – I think Petra either wins dominantly or wilts as the match progresses. She will need to make the most of the first 30 minutes or it may get tough, especially if her ankle isn’t at 100%.
0.75 units Fucsovics to defeat Hurkacz at $2.33 at Topsport – I have watched Hurkacz wilt multiple times in the heat, and although he did win Miami this year, I do still have some question marks, especially against one of the fitter players on tour in Martin Fucsovics, who has played many 5 setters over the years and looked strong at the end.
0.5 units Cornet to defeat Pliskova at $5 at Unibet – Whilst Cornet has struggled with the heat over the course of her career, I think the court speed brings her back into this on recent form. Pliskova doesn’t enjoy the heat either, and I think the fact the points will be shorter will help Cornet. Not sure Pliskova has the rally tolerance or patience in brutal conditions to justify her short price.
0.25 units Suarez Navarro to defeat Jabeur at $5.20 at Unibet – maybe winning a set off Barty and looking strong in round 1 of doubles yesterday isn’t the worst form. Ons Jabeur has had her moments at times in the heat (although her record after vomiting on court is quite strong), she is worth a small fade.
