I like Martinez as a longer shot to make his way through this quarter. His qualifying form is incredibly solid, and if he can get off to a good start here, he has every chance of making the most of the seeded draw of Bublik.
Bublik remains erratic on clay (and most surfaces), however I cannot pass up opposing him at the price today. Martinez has all the tools to be a very proficient claycourter, and has the ability to grind down Bublik into submission.
I don’t see Bublik being up for the fight in a big way here from a scheduling standpoint, especially with back to back Masters 1000s on the agenda in the next couple of weeks. If he wins, he does it by redlining and playing absurd tennis in my opinion. If he does, then fair play to him, however I am happy to oppose here for 2 units.
