WTA Monterrey – Sorribes Tormo vs Juvan

Posted on

Coming off the biggest title of her career last week in Guadalajara, Sara Sorribes Tormo is looking to continue her good form in Monterrey this week. Will the last week and a half catch up with her against up-and-coming Kaja Juvan? Personally, I think so.

SST was able to back up her title with a grinding 3-set win over Tsurenko in round 1, however the match was far more difficult than it perhaps could have been. The two of them traded 16 breaks of serve, with the Spaniard prevailing 5-7 6-2 6-4. She won less than half of points on her first serve and her second serve though, and when you marry up the form of Tsurenko compared to Juvan, who is building a solid base of form and won’t be needing to qualify for tournaments like this for much longer barring any form of injury.

To beat SST on hardcourts you need to serve well, but also use to angles that the Spaniard allows you to utilise based on her shot trajectory. Juvan has the game and the confidence to be able to pull the trigger in these moments, and at a touch over $2 looks to be great value.

Suggested Bets

1.5 units Juvan to defeat SST at $1.99 at Topsport ($2+ at all books except Bet365)
