ATP Acapulco Preview: Tsitsipas vs Paire

Posted on

Didn’t think I be walking down this path again so soon, however this is probably the only type of odds that garner any sort of interest when it comes to Benoit Paire.

This is a really fascinating spot in the calendar, with players transitioning to Acapulco, and then most likely making their way on to play Miami, which is becoming thinner and thinner by the minute. A number of top players have withdrawn from Miami, leaving Tsitsipas as the current 3rd seed for the tournament. Given he made the final of the ATP500 in Dubai in this week last year, and is playing an equivalent tournament in Acapulco, he would need to win the tournament to make an impact on his overall rankings. With a Masters 1000 thousand with a thinning entry list next week, and a couple of weeks of tennis in a row under his belt on the indoor hardcourts over the last fortnight, this has the potential to be a bit of a letdown spot for Tsitsipas.

Unfortunately though he comes up against Benoit Paire who has left a lot to be desired of late. This explains his odds being in double figures for this match, and it is worth noting that Paire is also on the entry list for Miami next week. Paire matches up well backhand to backhand, and this match-up and opponent and crowd is far more likely to bring out his best than any crowd recently.

I am happy to take on the enigma that is Benoit at this price, but only for 1.5 units. I’m not crazy…….

Suggested Bet

1.5 units Paire to defeat Tsitsipas at $10 at Topsport ($10.50+ is at Pinnacle, and please note there is some $15 available at Betfair currently…)
