We get the chance to oppose Kwon coming off his full week, as well as coming off an uninspiring first round win over Thai Son Kwiatkowski.
I do rate the win of Uchiyama over Polmans in round 1, and the form around Uchiyama, albeit in losses in Melbourne, stacks up relatively well. To lose to Bedene in two tiebreaks, and losing to Humbert in 4 sets in the first round of the Australian Open is not the worst form rolling around in Singapore this week. I am not sure I can get my head around him being $3+ in this one off the long term form of both (yes I am aware Kwon won the Challenger last week). Uchiyama’s late 2020 was hampered by injury on the clay after he pushed eventual semi finallist Pablo Carreno Busta to five sets in the first round of the US Open, so his late 2020 form can be forgiven.
I prefer Uchiyama on the indoor hardcourt, and I think he looks to be a great price here against Kwon second-up. I still have Kwon rated as a warm favourite, however cannot pass up the price on offer.
Suggested Bet
2.5 units Uchiyama to defeat Kwon at $3.15 at Topsport ($3.20 at Unibet and $3.23 at Pinnacle). Would play down to $2.75 at this staking.
