WTA Phillip Island Trophy Preview: Bouzkova vs Andreescu

Posted on

Short and sharp here. Coming off consecutive long three set matches so soon into her return to the tour, Bianca Andreescu looks far too short in the betting markets in her semi final against Marie Bouzkova.

Bouzkova has looked solid across the course of the three weeks in Melbourne, and will thrive on turning this match into a grind as much as possible. The Czech pushed Ash Barty to a decider in the week before the Australian Open, then played okay in her Australian Open loss to Elina Svitolina. The Czech has backed it up with some decent tennis this week, and was able to grind down Teichmann in the quarter final.

The main purpose of Andreescu’s tennis at this stage of her comeback is genuinely just getting time and competitive repetitions on court. She has down that in a big way over the last two rounds, with long three set matches against Madison Brengle and Irina Begu. She has looked patchy at best, and on another hot afternoon forecast in Melbourne, I love this price on Bouzkova and her ability to turn this into a grind.

I would have Bouzkova significantly shorter than her current quote, and I am happy to back her in here for 2.5 units.

Suggested Bet

2.5 units Bouzkova to defeat Andreescu at $2.63 (+163) at Unibet.
