WTA Australian Open Qualifying Double

Posted on

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a busy day, so I thought I would sneak out this quick preview now before shutting up shop for the evening.

Two players that caught my eye in round 1 for their impressive performances were Alex Krunic and Renata Zarazua. Whilst Krunic had to come from a set down, she managed to win sets 2 and 3 against Olga Govortsova incredibly comfortably. Now that I have seen her back on court and looking comfortable, I am happy to side with her to defeat Daniela Seguel, who got the better of Bibiane Schoofs in the first round 6-3 7-6. Hardcourt is generally not the happiest of hunting grounds for the Chilean, and I have Krunic being far too strong here for leg 1 of the double.

Zarazua should also have too much for Rebecca Sramkova on recent form. Sramkova did make a little run on hardcourt over the latter stages of 2020, however it doesn’t compare in any way to what Zarazua has produced over the last 12 months. The Mexican has built a higher degree of consistency since the start of 2020, meaning it is much easier to trust her in this price range.

Happy to play this double for 1 unit.
