For a guy with a big serve, the inconsistency with it this week has been evident for Jeremy Chardy on a number of occasions.
Chardy appears to have overperformed this week in comparison to what we saw him deliver in 2020. The question is: how does wins over Radu Albot and Fabio Fognini stack up in the greater scheme of things? Both opponents found themselves having lapses on serve, and on 2020 form and what I saw from Struff in round 1 against Kotov, I am not sure the Frenchman will be anywhere near as lucky today.
Struff looked incredibly solid in round 1 against Kotov, before benefitting from a withdrawal in round 2 from Grenier. I still think he is a touch underrated when you look at his overall numbers, and will have benefitted from the day off yesterday whilst Chardy spent almost 3 hours on court (funny thing to say early in the season, but it is still a quick turnaround for Chardy).
Nothing too dramatic here, however I am happy to place a 1 unit selection on Struff to win and cover the game handicap of -3 games.
