WTA Rome Preview: Pera vs Kuznetsova

Pera vs Kuznetsova (Approx 10:00pm AEST)

Alexander and I discussed this one on our show the other day, so I won’t go into too much detail here.

I think we have seen a regression in the game of Kuznetsova on clay over the last 18 months, to the point where her surname and past reputation alone is leading to her being regularly under the odds. Injuries and a lack of time on the court of late haven’t made her price any more appealing here, as the Russian struggled to keep up with Eugenie Bouchard in the third set in Istanbul after splitting tiebreaks.

Albeit with some of her results coming at ITF level, Bernarda Pera has shown herself to be very capable on the surface over the last couple of years. We last saw her on clay making the semi final in Jurmala last year, after reaching the semis in Prague and Lausanne as well. She gave a good account of herself during the North American hardcourt swing, with her three losses coming in deciders against Serena Williams, Dayana Yastremska and Maria Sakkari.

To be getting $1.80 for Pera on form, with Kuznetsova so soon into her comeback, looks a high percentage play. I am happy to take this price for 1.5 units.

Suggested Bet

1.5 units Pera to defeat Kuznetsova at $1.80 at Topsport
