McNally vs Kuzmova (Approx 06:30am AEST)
Whilst Caty McNally has come up against two players that she finds more difficult to face from a style standpoint (in my opinion), things looks to become a little easier for her today against the hard hitting Viktoria Kuzmova.
McNally has had a couple of horror first round draws in Lexington and at the Western & Southern Open. Her first opponent was Ons Jabeur, who have been one of a handful of players to show some incredibly impressive form across the fortnight building up to the grand slam. The second was Alize Cornet, who also boasts a win over Sofia Kenin and pushed eventual Western & Southern Open Champion Victoria Azarenka at times in their match as well. McNally can struggle against counterpunching players who can play with a bit of variety, which covers both Jabeur and Cornet in their own way. This style of opponent I think suits her far more here.
Kuzmova has continued what has been a bit of a hit and miss campaign across the 2020 season, and she will be keen to try and improve on her current ranking of 85 as the rest of the year unfolds. Personally, my preference lies with the McNally game when you match these two up on court, and the fact she has been playing exhibitions in similar conditions over the last couple of months doesn’t hurt either.
Kuzmova’s game is heavily reliant on her serve, and I will happily tip my cap and accept defeat if she were able to put an exceptionally high first serve percentage into play, however I think McNally’s style and game will be far more suited to the teenager compared to the last fortnight. Those losses to Jabeur and Cornet have delivered a value price here on the American, and I am happy to back her for 2 units.
Suggested Bet
2 units McNally to defeat Kuzmova at $1.90 at Unibet/Bet365
