Irina-Camelia Begu has to back up from over two and a half hours on court today against Kung, scheduled to face Sara Sorribes Tormo a couple of hours later. That sounds like a bit of a nightmare in my opinion.
As I mentioned in the Tormo/Siegemund preview, playing Tormo on clay whilst tired is not a particularly enjoyable situation. Whilst I am not a big fan of the -4.5 game handicap, in this type of match-up and situation I am happy to make an exception. This is an incredibly tough ask for Begu, and I am happy to take her on.
If there is a rain delay and this match is delayed to tomorrow, I will need to re-assess whether to stay involved or buy out of the position given the drop in value. I will address that if needed tomorrow.
