Harris vs Martin (Approx 01:00am AEST)
This match has the potential to be a little one-sided on this surface and in these conditions in my opinion.
We saw at the start of the year that Lloyd Harris has started to make the transition to ATP level hardcourt tennis player. He made the final of the tournament in Adelaide, which included wins over Pablo Carreno-Busta and Tommy Paul, and also looked very strong in his round 1 meeting yesterday. He defeated Mikael Ymer 7-5 7-5, and lead throughout both sets. His serve is a big advantage in the conditions, and it is a significant point of difference in the match-up today against Andrej Martin.
Martin was also able to produce a solid round 1 win, defeating Mager as a slight underdog. I would have been more interested in this match if it were to have taken place on clay, however Martin just doesn’t play enough on hardcourt for me to think he is any value in his price today, especially with some subjective comments suggesting the court speed is a little faster than anticipated.
It looks as though game handicaps are starting to become more available, and it must be said I do like Harris at the game handicap. I also like Harris to win this in straight sets, as his performance yesterday against a more proficient hardcourt tennis player in Ymer deserves recognition. I am happy to play Harris 2-0 in set betting for 1 unit.
