Vinny’s ITF W50 Roehampton Preview – Antonia Ruzic vs Simona Waltert

Posted on

In a matchup between two talented young guns, I’m giving the surface advantage to Simona Waltert. The lanky Swiss has won over 63% of matches played on indoor hard so far in her career and while Antonia Ruzic’s record is just as good, Waltert has played twice as many matches on the surface. Ruzic might be the more well-rounded player of the two already, but on quicker courts, I still give the edge to Waltert, whose wins over Petra Marcinko and Marina Bassols Ribera at the Australian Open and Anna Bondar in Cluj-Napoca have convinced me quite a bit. The 6-2, 6-2 demolition of Britain’s next big thing Hannah Klugman here in Roehampton was another indicator of Waltert’s fine form. Ruzic is also playing well, however, she has been facing much lesser opponency. I make the tall Swiss a 1.73 (-137) favorite, so there’s plenty of room at the current prices.
