Jake’s Buenos Aires Preview: Ofner vs. Coria

Posted on

I don’t want readers to think I’m going gang busters for the sake of it and simply firing shots to gather some momentum, I truly do see a lot of value across the card here at Argentina’s capital.

Federico Coria is simply going to be up against it physically here, and has to play in a set of conditions he’s 2-5 in over his career.

Last year he produced a deep run at Cordoba, and came to this venue a couple of days later and lost to Ugo Carabelli with a similar SP, and even though Ofner is unproven in South America, his legs should be fresh and I have no reason to question his motivation.

He was a favourite against Luciano Darderi a week ago, and we all saw how the Italian ended up playing last week.

I don’t want to underestimate Coria, but his match against Bagnis showed me that even though his heart cannot be questioned, he is fundamentally a one-dimensional player.

His SP against Daniel Altmaier was north of $2.50, and even though he mostly proved than price to be incorrect, he’s no bulletproof proposition in this price range.
