To the surprise of no one, I’ll be betting the overs again in Jelena Ostapenko’s third-round match against Vika Azarenka. The sample size is growing to over 80 matches now where Ostapenko has played a third set more often than not. Books are still hanging odds of 2.40 or better on that market, making this one of the more profitable bets in tennis, at least for now. With the Latvian’s highly volatile game, I also don’t see this ending anytime soon.
Ostapenko and Azarenka already put up a fight two weeks ago in Brisbane where Victoria emerged victorious – in a third set. Both women are in decent form and I have no clue who wins it this time. I’m expecting a topsy-turvy kind of match where anything can happen, which leaves me with no other choice than to back the overs once more.
