Let’s take a look at the quarter by quarter markets and search for some overall value.
Quarter 1
I could write a fair bit about this section, however it is certainly dominated by Iga Swiatek. The second and third favourites in the section are Danielle Collins and Jelena Ostapenko, largely due to the fact that their big hitting games are the most likely to cause Swiatek any sort of trouble, however when you consider Swiatek’s form on the clay, and her dominance at Roland Garros in recent years, I am happy to look to the other quarters for some value here.
Quarter 2
Now this is a fascinating quarter of the draw, and opens up a lot of possibilities for many players to find themselves in a medal match at the end of the week. Although she has not been a player that has shown to be strong on clay over the course of her career, we last saw Naomi Osaka at Roland Garros when she was pushing Swiatek to the absolute brink a couple of months ago. She holds close to quarter favouritism with Qinwen Zheng, who had one of her better weeks on the clay when she won Palermo a couple of weeks back. Looking through the rest of the names in the top section of this quarter, and Emma Navarro is the only other player that stands out to me in any meaningful way. Out of Osaka and Navarro, my preference ever so slightly lies with Osaka at the current market odds and their respective draws.
Quarter 3
I won’t lie, after extensive searching, nothing really caught my eye here.
Quarter 4
Although she has a tricky first round match-up with Kostyuk, there might be a bit of value in taking Yulia Putintseva given her form in recent months. It has taken high quality opposition to defeat her most of the time, and the conditions forecast for Paris should suit her fairly well. Coco Gauff is the overwhelming favourite in this section, however at odds shorter than $1.80 to win the quarter, and set to play likely a heavy week of women’s and mixed doubles too, it’s hard to be too drawn to such a short price in the outrights.
