I think the game handicap is off by a game in this one, so I am happy to get involved here.
I think this is a reasonable match-up for Ons Jabeur, particularly with the left-handed Montgomery playing and serving into the backhand side of Jabeur, which possesses one of the better slices on the tour. Jabeur was rock solid again in round 1, and didn’t lose a point on first serve and didn’t face a break point. Montgomery was also able to win in straight sets, however did face break points in six separate service games, and only held better than to 30 on two occasions for the match. Look for Jabeur to find a way into return games regularly across the course of the match.
