Jake’s Rotterdam Preview: Rune vs. Safiullin

Posted on

I speak in-depth about buying low and selling high, and while I was fairly disgusted at Holger Rune’s performance at Montpellier, I can’t help but find this price to be very big against Safiullin.

At Brisbane, the duo faced off outside in quicker conditions, and Rune started $1.49 before winning in straight sets.

We now transition to an indoor hard court, on a slower surface – which works against Safiullin, and there’s an enormous odds shift from the first meeting.

On his best day, Rune is a prodigal talent. He withdraw from the match against Coric with an injury but that ailment looked more like a “I couldn’t be bothered today”, rather than a genuine injury.

But, the ailment is clearly priced into the market and after retirement and overall disappointing loss, we get a huge price about him.

Rune has only started bigger than $1.70 once all season, and that was in the finale against Dimitrov at Brisbane.

He simply doesn’t go around these quotas often, especially in conditions he should enjoy.
