Tommy Paul will look to win his first set off Jack Draper during Thursday’s second-round contest, and I think he might be able to.
The American should come into this contest the much fresher of the two players after spending substantially less time on the court in the last two weeks.
I don’t want to get caught in a pattern of betting against the Brit, because he has been great in the last 3 months on play, but I have a lot of respect for Paul and what he can do both in hot conditions and on hard courts.
He played Djokovic in the semi-finals here last season and belongs in the pointy end of five-set tennis on hard courts.
Draper is yet to show what he can do at this level and I think this might be too challenging for him.
I do however expect the younger player to fire some shots early on, and I think he’s in good enough touch to snag a set off Paul.
