On the surface when looking at these odds, it feels as though there is an element of Zverev being rated on his past form, and not necessarily the body of work that he has produced since he has returned from his major ankle injury suffered in Paris last year.
While I have no doubts that Zverev will return back to his best level in the months and years ahead, I think it is safe to say he is not there just yet. Although he won in straight sets against Lloyd Harris in round 1, it was far from convincing. He gets a tricky opponent here in Molcan, who I prefer to support when he has a player with pace at the other end of the court on the clay.
Molcan handled Gaston and the crowd well in round 1, and although this is a tough match-up, I have him rated closer to $3.50 in this one, triggering a small play.
