ATP Wimbledon Qualifying: Ymer vs Kubler

Posted on

I absolutely love the price on offer for Jason Kubler tonight against Elias Ymer in the final round of qualifying, and I am more than happy to jump in at near coin-flip odds for a solid play here.

Whilst Ymer has produced two straight set wins in the first two rounds of qualifying, he received one of the weaker paths to the final round of all the seeded players in the draw in Milojevic and Bonadio. Neither player is proficient on grass by any stretch of the imagination, however it was impressive to see he didn’t face a break point through the four sets. This is a significant step up in opposition quality here as he takes on Kubler.

Kubler, who has made his way back into the Top 100 thanks to some incredibly strong Challenger form since Roland Garros. Although the scorelines for his two rounds have been a little tighter, the level Kubler has produced in the tight moments has been incredibly impressive. Combining this, his 2022 form in general in comparison to Ymer, and the fact this is over the best-of-5 sets all favour Kubler in my opinion.
